Matthew Booth, APCC
Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
Matthew is very excited to be a part of The Haven’s clinical team providing individual, group, and family counseling. Matthew has a passion for meeting clients where they’re at and hearing their stories. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego and then went across the way to University of San Diego to earn his master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in clinical mental health. While in San Diego he was fortunate enough to work with Community Research Foundation, a non-profit organization, at a short-term-acute-residential-treatment program geared towards minimizing hospital recidivism and providing ongoing around the clock counseling interventions to adults struggling with co-occurring disorders.
Matthew was also involved in the opening of the San Luis Obispo Crisis Stabilization Unit as a mental health counselor. While at the unit he was able to counsel adults experiencing a wide range of symptoms including suicidality, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and those pertaining to substance use disorders.
In his free time Matthew enjoys hiking, playing tennis, reading, going to the beach, and searching for the next best Mexican food spot in the area.
